At Beachside Nelson we know that catering for your delegates or guests is a huge part of any conference or event. People have been ‘breaking bread’ over shared conversations since biblical times, which explains, why catering is still the key to excellent hospitality. It doesn’t matter whether you’re holding a business or private function; the food you serve can make or break an event. That’s why we’re so lucky to have catering aficionado, Carol Shirley, at the helm of Beachside. Carol has decades of catering experience!
We always work with our guests to guide them through the choices available. In this post, we thought we would share three tips to help you make the right choices for your event menu.
Catering for your conference or event – Three tips to help you make the right choice:
Take your timetable into account:
Firstly, when you’re planning your conference, do consider when you will build in break times. Additionally, think how long they will last. If you have only scheduled thirty minutes for a lunch break, it’s unlikely that a sit-down meal will suit your needs. You might be better off with a buffet or one of our very popular grazing tables.
Flirt with food personality:
You want your conference to be memorable, don’t you? Well, it’s not just the guest speakers that need to be on point. Your catering should reflect your company or brand profile. If you’re delivering a workshop with a focus on health or well-being, it won’t do to serve up dishes of deep-fried snacks. At Beachside Nelson we’re known for delivering nourishing dishes that delight delegates for all the right reasons.
Deliberate over dietary requirements:
Finally, identify any special dietary needs and work with your venue or catering provider to provide for these. It’s always a good idea to identify any dietary requirements before an event. So, for a conference or workshop include a question in your registration form. If it’s a private event, such as a wedding or party, you can always add an RSVP card which offers guests an opportunity to list any dietary requirements.
When you choose a grazing table or buffet, we will always aim to include some Gluten-Free and Vegan options. If you’re having a sit-down meal, you may consider having a Vegan or Vegetarian choice, but it is best to ask your guests to list any other dietary requirements.
At Beachside Nelson, we provide catering for events held at our venue, and also for some events held off-site. Contact us to find out more about the services we offer.
